One of the tasks of Armenia is to become a leading country in the field of artificial intelligence and technologies, said the President of Armenia Armen Sargsyan at the Crans Montana Forum in Switzerland.

“We are a small country, but a global nation. We are ready for the 21st century, as we have a global network. Armenia is a country of hardworking people, a nation that can bring new technologies to their country,” Armen Sargsyan said.

The President noted that the 21st century may be the era of not only superpowers, but small successful countries. According to him, for a country like Armenia, it is important to have a mission that brings people together.

“One of the challenges of the nation is to become a leading country in the field of artificial intelligence and technologies. Small can be beautiful. Armenia is a wonderful country, and it can also be successful,” Sargsyan emphasized.

The sphere of high and information technologies in Armenia is growing annually by 20-25%, about 500 companies operate in this industry. According to data for 2017, the share of IT sector in the country’s GDP was around 4%.

At the same exact time in Yerevan, Armenia and Indonesia signed an Agreement on Cooperation in Technological Business Incubators and Science and Technology Parks. Under that Agreement, the parties plan to establish interaction and exchange their experience in the field of science and technology.

In addition, in May 2019 it became known that a decentralized network of transactions with intellectual property rights and objects – IPChain, would be launched in Armenia.

IPChain is an infrastructure designed for creators of intellectual property, rightholders, users, intermediaries and other participants of any intellectual property transactions.
