CRSEA and Digital IP discussed the future of university libraries in the digital age at the conference in Almaty
The IV International Conference “Transformation of University Libraries in the Context of Higher Education Modernization” was held with the support of the Confederation of Rightholders’ Societies of Europe and Asia (CRSEA) and the Digital IP Scientific and Educational Center for Intellectual Property and Digital Economy
On February 13–14, the IV International Conference “Transformation of University Libraries in the Context of Higher Education Modernization” was held at the Narkhoz University of Almaty. It was attended by leading experts in the field of copyright, as well as representatives of foreign libraries. The program included not only reports, but also consultations, master classes and other events with the participation of the best representatives of global and Kazakhstan library business.
The key topics of discussion were the formation of a new type of library, adapted to the needs of the reader of the digital age, the expansion of the electronic resource in the service of users, the legal aspects of digitizing book collections, as well as copyright and anti-plagiarism issues.
The conference consisted of four sessions: “New models and ways of transforming university libraries”, “Electronic resources of leading foreign companies to support the education of science and culture”, “Features of digital transformation in a modern library”, “Plagiarism as a threat to the innovative development of society”.
The conference included two events in an interactive format: training seminars “Legal Aspects of Digitization of Book Funds at University Libraries: Problems and Solutions” and “Quality Assurance in the Activities of University Libraries”.
At the event spoke Ismail Mammadkarimov, Director General of CRSEA, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Authors’ Society, and Ivan Bliznets, Academic Director of the Scientific and Educational Center for Intellectual Property and Digital Economy “Digital IP”.
The conference was attended by over 60 experts, specialists, representatives of professional organizations, including Vadim Kuznetsov, the Director of the Publishing and Library Center of the Baltic Federal University named after I. Kant; Irzhanova Gulzhan Dzhenisbekkyzy, Director of the Library and Information Center of Taraz State University named after M.H. Dulati (Taraz, Kazakhstan), President of ABV RK; Arkady Khalyukov CEO at the “Grebennikov” Publishing House”; Ilya Petukhov, Director of Regional Development in Central Asia and the CIS countries “EBSCO Information Services” (Prague, Czech Republic). Philanthropist Azamat Utenov from the “Make Yourself” Intellectual Club gave books as gifts to participants of the conference, which were various fiction books.
