CRSEA and Uzbekistan agreed to jointly develop the field of intellectual property

The Confederation of Rightholders’ Societies of Europe and Asia (CRSEA) and the Public Association of Copyright and Related Rights Holders of Uzbekistan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of collective management of rights. The ceremony was held on Thursday in Tashkent, the CRSEA press service informed.

“The signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with our Uzbekistan colleagues is an important step towards improving the system of protection of intellectual rights in the Eurasian territory. I’m sure that the joint steps of the CRSEA and the Public Association of Copyright and Related Rights Holders of Uzbekistan, stipulated by the Memorandum, will allow Eurasian authors and copyright holders to manage their intellectual capital as efficiently as possible, to monetize their creativity, “the press service of the CRSEA Secretary General Andrei Krichevsky quotes.

According to the Chairman of the Board of the Public Association of Copyright and Related Rights Holders of Uzbekistan, Lola Usmanova, cooperation should not only strengthen the mechanisms for protecting copyright in the country, but also open up new opportunities for representatives of creative professions to receive worthy remuneration for their work.

Within the framework of the Agreement, it is planned to hold round tables and forums, international seminars, thematic meetings to exchange experiences in the field of collective management of intellectual property rights. The memorandum also provides for the signing between the Public Association of Copyright and Related Rights Holders of Uzbekistan and Russian intellectual property management societies of an agreement on the distribution and payment of remuneration for public performance, communication to the public by cable or broadcasting the published musical works, phonograms and fragments of musical and dramatic works.

The Confederation of Rightholders’ Societies of Europe and Asia (CRSEA) includes leading national societies that manage various categories of copyright and/or related rights in the member countries of the EEU, CIS, BRICS, and other countries.

CRSEA – an associate member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC), has the status of an accredited observer at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
