CRSEA will address the concerns of rightholders at international level
The Confederation of Rightholders’ Societies of Europe and Asia (CRSEA) became a member of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC).
The priorities that CRSEA intends to address at the international level in its new capacity include the issues of “cost transfer” (loss of remuneration by authors due to the use of their music by online platforms), increase in the level of remuneration for authors of audiovisual works, authors of visual arts and other relevant issues.
According to Andrey Krichevskiy, General Secretary of CRSEA, the joining to CISAC was a serious step in the development of interstate relations in the field of intellectual property and the building of an effective and transparent mechanism for copyright management.
“With the help of digital technology, this can be done in a short time. A unique digital infrastructure for the sphere of intellectual property has already been created in Russia – a decentralized network based on the technology of distributed registries. More than a year ago, we developed and launched the IPChain project from scratch, which became a unified solution for the global intellectual property sphere”, A. Krichevskiy said.
He also noted that the open digital infrastructure is the only way to meet the technological challenges of the era, to increase the quantity and quality of creative work products, transactions with them and, accordingly, to fulfill the tasks of increasing the remuneration for authors assigned to CRSEA by CISAC.
CISAC is the world’s largest international non-governmental organization that unites collective rights management societies from 121 countries.
