The National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP) took part in a meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization

On September 10-11, 2019, the 35th meeting of the Administrative Council of the Eurasian Patent Organization (AC EAPO) was held in Nur-Sultan (Republic of Kazakhstan), in which Vladimir Ryabovolov, Dicrector of the National Center of Intellectual Property (NCIP), participated as the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Belarus.

During the event, the results of the Eurasian Patent Organization in the field of international cooperation were presented, including on issues of accelerated patent filing, interaction with Eurasian patent attorneys, and the development of digitalization of IT infrastructure in the Eurasian Patent Office (EPO – the executive body of the organization).

Participants also discussed the EAPO 2018 Report, the organization’s draft budget for 2020, the procedure for the formation and expenditure of the reserve fund and the Regulation on long-term internships in the institution.

In addition, following the meeting, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on bilateral cooperation between the Eurasian Patent Office of the Eurasian Patent Organization and the Intellectual Property Office of the European Union was approved.

EAPO members are 8 counties that have ratified the Eurasian Patent Convention: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

The International Organization was created to carry out administrative tasks related to the functioning of the Eurasian patent system and granting of Eurasian patents.
